TRAVELOGUE
CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT: THE INCREDIBLE ALYONA, WARRIOR-SHAMAN OF THE LUKAS TRIBE-A STONE-AGE SUPER-HERO!-AND…. DRUG ADDICT? (PART II)
16 May 2015
Deepest greetings, most honored reader, and thank you again for stopping by!
Things are looking a little scary for Alyona now. Goppo has abandoned her, but he probably couldn’t have done much for her anyhow. She’s had to summon all of the resources at her com-mand. And one of these resources, as I mentioned in Part I of this series, was her mystical power drinks which she quaffed on Tuesday in prepara-tion for final combat with the Ogre. Will even that be enough, however? The answer’s not yet really clear.
As I also mentioned in the first part of this series, what the Lukas shamans called their “mystical” power drink, aka, their mystical power potions or “strength potions,” though capable of putting the imbiber into such a hyper, elevated state of physi-cal power that it increased the imbiber’s strength to nearly superhuman levels, the formulas them-selves were not really mystical. But if they weren’t quite mystical, then just what were they?
Well, I’m glad you asked, most honored reader, as the Cognescentii were curious about this as well. In my first meeting with Alyona, as chronicled in The Great Princess Pyramid Scheme (please see the Archives above), I described this curious potion thusly: “We later learned that this vial con-tained the legendary mystic strength potion of the Lukas shamans. We of the Cognescentii, however, have learned that one of its active ingredients is phencyclidine, the active ingredient also found in PCP!”
So there you have it, dear reader: Alyona is a druggie. And after having taken this potion, she should soon fly into a rage even beyond that of one of her usual “Beserker Rages,” gaining un-canny strength in the process. In fact, after imbib-ing one of these solutions, I would not be surpris-ed if her strength were to increase to the point where she could military press over 300 lbs and bench over 500!
However, that potion had better kick in-and fast!-before this Ogre batters her unconscious. And will even such strength be enough-“against 950 lbs of well-rested bulk and muscle?” And even if she does win-what then? You see, dear reader, what I have so far failed to mention is that after use of the “power potion,” Alyona will be so weak that she’ll hardly be able to stand and walk, much less fight. And just how many more monsters lurk and hide among the deadly nooks and crannies of Mt. Undenkhark?
Please join me next week for some answers, most honored reader! Until then, may your life be one filled to overflowing with-
Cognescentii blessings!
