TRAVELOGUE
TRIO: TANK FROM E4 TO F5; OGRES: BOULDER FROM D6 TO TANK—CHECK AND MATE!
18 July 2015
Welcome, most honored reader, to transmissions from the End of Time and the Hallowed Halls of the Cognescentii as I continue my Tales of the Traveller and the Saga of the Terrific Trio,
Hmm…. it appears our heroes have reached a dead-end and have quickly discovered that it won’t be as easy to “shock and awe” the Ogres as it was the Grocs. Though Grocs are formidable warriors, it is the Ogre that stands as one of the Underwyrld’s apex predators (or at least second string), as I de-tailed quite extensively HERE . Indeed, at 10 feet tall and 1,000 lbs in weight, the average Ogre is definite• ly a dedicated “Big and Tall” department shopper. Along with that great size comes his thick skin (great for absorbing impacts and blows), his fangs and talons (for rending and tearing), and his mass-ive strength, strength enough to hurl 100-pound boulders at his opponents.
More interesting is the Thinker’s map of the Under-wyrld that the tank crew is perusing. The wily old Thinker has set the kids off on an old road that basically runs through the major monster kingdoms in this section of the Underwyrld. In ancient days, it served not only as the main route to the surface but also as the main highway for trade …marauding—and war. This ancient highway, called the “Old Trade Road,” runs all the may to Khapitalium! The Thinker’s kingdom sits off of it; it runs through both the Grocs’ and the Ogre domains as well. In fact, it’ll almost get you all the may to Nosferatiya! (but the Thinker isn’t thinking about sending the kids there—is he?).
In any event, the Trio has their work cut out for them in fighting the Ogres. After all, the Thinker’s tank, as tough as it is, isn’t really indestructible. It’s not even made of metal the may yours are. It’s al-most as tough as steel, but it’s actually a type of tempered rock which the Thinker strengthened via his mystical power over stone. What would happen if it took a few direct boulder shots from the Ogres? Could even his New Magic Tank survive that?
If you ask me, it sounds like Sgt. Mac and the kids had better get out of there—and fast! Please join me next week, honored reader, to see if they follow my advice.
Until then, may your week be one full of—
Cognescentii blessings!
